The Foundation

Our foundation “Puntos Verdes” (ministerial agreement nº 007, MAE) has directed all efforts on the following since 1995:

1. Conservation of natural forests in private hands (the so-called “Puntos Verdes”)
2. Practical environmental programs concerning sustainable management of renewable resources directed towards students, farmers, NGO’s, independent groups, and local governments.
3. Reforestation with native species on degraded soils.
4. Scientific research.

The Foundation’s headquarters is our farm, Mindo Lindo. Workshops are held in the Environmental Training Center. All training programs are conducted on the farm or in areas nearby.

Through present, the Foundation's efforts have been focused on:
The Provinces of Esmeraldas - Project PSIE: environmental education with 44 secondary schools.
Chimborazo, Tungurahua and Guayas - agro-tourist projects.
Napo - avifaunal inventory of the Biosphere Reserve of Sumaco Galeras and the training of park rangers.
Pichincha – adequate waste management, environmental education and sustainable management of different resources.

Puntos Verdes has two partner organizations in Germany: The Biodiversity Institute (ibn) – www.biodiv.de – and the Verein Faszination Regenwald – www.verein-faszination-regenwald.de
